VARANASI: The district police on Saturday imposed a ban on the trading of Chinese 'manjha' (thread used in flying kites).
SSP Rajesh Modak made it clear that in the case of detection of trading of Chinese manjha at any shop, legal action would be initiated against the trader concerned. The SSP issued the order on the suggestions made by the people on the Facebook account of district police.
It may be recalled that the only son of a mason, Rohit alias Raut was killed when his throat was slit with Chinese manjha in Madauli area on December 23. Resentment was brewing among the people, who had also staged a demonstration. Suggestions for banning the 'manjha' were pouring in on the police Facebook account.
Modak said that after getting suggestions from people he held a discussion with his subordinates. It was decided to ban the trading of Chinese manjha. He said that the order has been issued in public interest and to avoid further untoward incident.

Poor quality stuff should never be allowed in from china. They have a policy to dump their own products into countries so that the target country's industry goes out of business. The chinese will find a full market like this and the target country will be dependent on china for the basic goods. Indians ought to promote Be Indian, Buy Indian products policy.

I feel rather confused: why ban CHINESE manja only ? Banning all manjha is fine but only CHINESE ? Or is it that quality of Indian manjha is so poor that it does not cut ? Will any resident of Varanasi be able to explain this ?
